About us
Parents for Choice and Quality is a non-profit organization that was created out of a need for a parent voice on Prince Edward Island.
My name is April Ennis and I am the mother of Brandon and Benjamin. I understand the importance of the early years as both of my children were diagnosed with autism in 2006. I know firsthand, the challenges and the triumphs of raising two energetic boys with special needs. I feel very privileged to have met Jane Boyd in the early movement of Parents for Choice and Quality and look forward to creating a strong parent voice on Prince Edward Island. My personal vision is simple – I want to see all Island families have access to needed supports that enable their children to reach their full potential. I believe that parents are the key voice that is missing from the current discussions and look forward to enabling the PEI parent community to share their voice in discussions that concern them.

My name is Jane Boyd. I am the mother of Brittany, Emma and Adam. The needs of young children and their families has been a passion of mine for many years. I understand the challenges that parents face as they try to ensure they do the very best for their children. For more than twenty years I have been involved in the fields of early childhood education and work-life balance. I operate Work Family & Life Consulting, an organization that works with business, government and community to develop solutions related to child care, employee wellbeing and child/family related issues.
Since 2002 I have been stongly connected to Prince Edward Island. I have only recently returned to BC after living on the Island with my family for an extended period of time. Over the years, I have become aware of the many challenges that families on the Island face with respect to access to programs, services and initiatives for young children. In addition, it is often not easy for parents to have input into the way the various support systems are developed. I am very pleased to be working with April Ennis through Parents for Choice and Quality and I look forward to developing a strong community on the Island for parents with young children.
