Taking Action
Parents for Choice and Quality
2010
- We are continuing to monitor the changes that are happening related to the transition of Kindergarten to the School system.
- We are partnering to bring a two day autism workshop to PEI featuring Kari Dunn Buron and Jenny Clark Brack in November. More info will be posted in May.
- We will be taking action against any plans to implement a freeze on new child care licenses on PEI should this be implemented by the Provincial Government.
- We are looking to further develop and enhance opportunities for parents of young children on PEI to have a voice when it comes to public policy decisions that impact them.
2009
Here are some of the issues that we explored and/or monitored in 2009.
- The plan to move Kindergarten into the public school system and just what this means for all who are impacted by this.
- The Kindergarten funding policy and how it impacts some Island children and their families.
- The fact that PEI truly needs an updated, comprehensive Early Years Strategy.
- Developing an Island wide network for parents of young children.
- The various policy areas that the Provincial Government and related key stakeholders are working on in relation to early childhood development and education issues.
- Changes to the various Acts and Legislation that relates to child care, education and early childhood development.
- Other areas that we feel are important in relation to Island children and families.
